“Were you a STEM major?” I’m often asked this question when I say I specialize in writing about technical topics. In truth, I was a humanities major, but I’ve always had an insatiable curiosity about how things work.

Today, I say that my superpower is translating ‘engineering’ into ‘human’. Working with subject matter experts in science, high tech, and engineering, I love the challenge of learning complex topics and crafting engaging narratives that connect with a wide variety audiences and drive significant outcomes.

I’ve developed successful marketing content and programs that increased brand awareness, established thought leadership, generated leads, and supported GTM and sales enablement across a wide range of industries—from hardware and software, data center infrastructure, construction, and high tech manufacturing, to health care, medical research, non-destructive material testing, optical physics, and gas/liquid chromatography. Combining this broad background with an MBA and 20 years of experience in B2B marketing, market research, and sales support enables me to come up to speed quickly craft targeted content marketing programs that help organizations focus resources where they can make the greatest impact.

I’ve held senior corporate roles and contributed to several successful entrepreneurial ventures. As Executive Director of Marketing & Sales Support, I led integrated, multi-platform marketing initiatives encompassing strategy, proposal development, public relations, market research, events, and contracting in a dynamic B2B environment. I built and managed a high-performing proposal team that consistently achieved win rates of 74–86% annually, and led product launch campaigns, for example, supporting an internet service that now reaches over 8 million users. I’m adept at cross-functional collaboration, building consensus across stakeholders and driving measurable results.

As a consultant I’ve worked with startups, universities, nonprofits, and Fortune 50 corporations, including Skanska, Hitachi Consulting, Microsoft, McKesson, Seattle Children’s Hospital Clinical Research Center, and others. I’ve written business plans that raised millions in investment funding and M&A prospectuses that secured the successful sale of 19 small and mid-size private companies.

I earned a BA from the University of Chicago and an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. A certified Six Sigma Green Belt, I also served three years on the board of Women Business Owners (WBO) of Western Washington as Marketing Chair. I’m  an active member of both the Northwest Science Writers Association and the Northwest Independent Editors Guild. For examples of my work, view the Portfolio.
